About
I started Yew to give voice to the quiet yearnings of families like yours, and to celebrate and remember your legacy.
My passion for photography began in middle school, when I would convince my older brother to pose and run around so I could capture those viral 2016-era long-exposure shots. Photography has always been my primary way of connecting with others and expressing what words cannot. Growing up, we had few family portraits, and none truly captured the depth of our family story. Our photos came from mall studios, framed in drugstore-bought frames. While I cannot rewrite my own past, I can ensure your family legacy is preserved with the care and craftsmanship it deserves.
Family bonds carry us forward, much like the English yew tree, which is one of the only living things capable of regenerating from its own roots and surviving for thousands of years past its original lifespan. That is the core philosophy behind every Yew session: we do not just create photographs; we build something designed to outlast the moment it was captured.
A session with Tyron feels like collaborating with a fun-loving, detail-oriented friend who is completely dedicated to ensuring your vision excels.
Based in Greater Hartford, serving West Hartford, Avon, Farmington, Simsbury, Glastonbury, and beyond.
Two Things…
Yew comes to you. No studio visit, no unfamiliar backdrop — sessions happen in your home or a location that means something to your family.
The final product is physical. Every Yew session results in tangible, display-ready art for your home: personalized framed prints, fine art prints, and a digital archive of your images. On our higher-tier collections, a premium album and portrait canvas.
Our Name
Yew is named for the Taxus baccata — the English yew tree, a species capable of living for thousands of years and regenerating from its own roots, even after damage that would kill most other trees.
Across cultures, the yew has long stood as a symbol of eternity and renewal. That's the idea at the center of this business: portraits that outlast a single moment, a single season, even a single generation.
Pieces of your family's story that keep being rediscovered on the wall long after the day they were taken.
